Free Dental Care Donated to 120+ People in Shelby County

On Saturday, March 14, 2015, Mortenson Family Dental partnered with Touched Twice Ministries in Shelbyville, KY to provide free dental care to members of the community in need. Our team members provided a free cleaning or tooth extraction to more than 120 people and donated more than $13,000 worth of dental services.

It is our privilege to participate in this event and others like it. By opening our doors to members of the community that need a little help, we are able to meet and treat patients who may not otherwise get needed dental care. People put off visiting the dentist for a variety of reasons, including fear of pain, fear of the cost, embarrassment, and uncertainty of what to expect.

One of the most touching moments of the day came when an adult patient came to our office, sharing that he was too embarrassed by his smile to go out in public with his grown children. He was nervous to the point of tears. In an effort to comfort him, Dr. Jessica Eugenio and her assistant, Cindy, began to sing “This Little Light of Mine” to him. The compassion Cindy and Dr. Eugenio showed encouraged this patient to trust that they would take good care of him and not make him feel bad about his teeth. Soon he was smiling and let them continue treating him.

We are so grateful to be a part of such a wonderful community like Shelby County! Check out some of our photos from the event!
